Shirley Gene Bryson Leverkuhn

Shirley Gene Bryson Leverkuhn, 80, of Sour Lake, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at The Oaks of Beaumont.  A native and lifelong resident of the area; Shirley was born February 15, 1930, to Lois Lillie Greene Bryson and Harry Chester Bryson, Sr.
 
She loved gardening and bird watching.  Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family; most of all her grandchildren.  She was a spiritual woman.
 
Survivors include her daughters, Shirlene Leverkuhn Smith and her husband Tommy of Beaumont and Lydia Helen Leverkuhn Castro of Sour Lake; son, John Robert Leverkuhn of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Jason G. Smith and his wife Angela and Chris J. Smith all of Beaumont, Aurielle R. Tineo and Dannon D. Castro of Winnie; great-grandchildren, Saydie Smith, Madison Smith and Gabriel G. German; brothers and sisters, Beth Bryson, Harry C. Bryson, Jr., Dee Stelly and Susie Ortego.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny James Leverkuhn; her parents; and her brother, John Edward Bryson.
 
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Broussard’s.  A family committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium.
